Laughlin, Nevada
Although Laughlin has existed for many years, it has only recently begun to grow into a gaming resort destination. In 1964, Don Laughlin, a former Las Vegas casino owner, was flying over the area in his private plane. Impressed with the area, Mr. Laughlin purchased over 6 acres of riverfront property for $250,000. Over the next few years, he built on the site a small bar motel which included 12 slot machines, 2 gaming tables, and 4 motel rooms. These modest beginnings then evolved into what Laughlin is today.
Today, Laughlin offers much of what the Las Vegas of yesteryear had to offer. Laughlin hosts dozens of fine resort properties, several casinos, shopping, entertainment, and much more at prices that Las Vegas surpassed many years ago.
Bullheaded International Airport is located just on the other side of the Colorado River from Laughlin so travellers can easily get to the city. Laughlin is a nice, quiet alternative to Las Vegas with much of the excitement of Las Vegas too.
